Our Story
For as long as we can remember, children in foster care have held a special place in our hearts. These young people face challenges most of us will never experience, and when we learned how often they move between homes without something as simple as a suitcase, it deeply moved us. A suitcase isn’t just a container for belongings — it’s a symbol of dignity, stability, and ownership during an uncertain time.
What started as a conversation between friends over coffee quickly became a calling. We reflected on the comfort and privilege our own children enjoy and felt compelled to take action for those who don’t have the same support. That moment sparked the creation of Cases of Love.
Why We Exist
We believe every foster child deserves to feel valued, cared for, and supported — especially during transitions that can feel confusing and overwhelming. A new suitcase may seem small, but for a child who has carried their life in temporary bags or loose items, it can represent hope. It can tell them: You matter. Your story matters. You deserve care.
Our mission is simple but deeply meaningful:
To provide every foster child in Hennepin County with a suitcase they can truly call their own.
How You Can Make a Difference
This holiday season, we’re inviting our community to join us in delivering Cases of Love to children in foster care. You can bring new, unused suitcases to one of our drop-off sites during designated dates, where we’ll welcome you with hot chocolate, treats, and holiday cheer. Together, we’ll fill a truck with donations that will be delivered directly to Hennepin County in time for Christmas.
We’ll also have holiday stationery available for anyone who wants to include a heartfelt note of encouragement inside their suitcase — a message a child might keep for years.
If you can’t attend in person, you can still participate through our online links. Any suitcase purchased through those links will be delivered directly to the county on your behalf.
Our Hope
